The Coffee Party Movement Needs You

I attended two coffee parties in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC this past Saturday that were organized by The Coffee Party USA. These meetings were just what I needed at this time. I've felt myself becoming disillusioned with American government and have thought about entering the ranks of apathetic voters. I've been able to fight the urge to give up on our political system. I would ask myself this question when thinking about giving up: What good would that do?

I don't think I'll need to worry about becoming apathetic towards America's political process after attending Coffee Party meetings. I've actually found groups of Americans that want to put politics aside and focus on the process of running government. It's amazing.

The Coffee Party movement is something I've felt brewing in America (pardon the awful pun) for some time now. Americans are awakening to the reality that partisan politicians are not looking out for the best interest of The People. Reasonable Americans feel like they're being left out of the political process. The Coffee Party movement believes The People are ready to take the reins bridled on our democracy from the hands of political extremists.

Americans feel like unreasonable people have too much influence on our government. I know many who had disconcerting feelings after witnessing the abhorrent level of discourse that took place during last summer's town hall meetings. The images of angry Americans that appeared on television screens were imperfect snapshots of the American electorate. The Tea Party does not speak for reasonable Americans.

The Tea Party and extremist conservative Republicans aren't the only groups polluting the American political landscape. Extreme liberal Democrats are also preventing Americans from participating in civil political discourse. The Coffee Party wants to give a voice to Americans who are tired of political extremists shouting over us.

The Coffee Party movement wants elected officials and media to stop paying attention to politics and start focusing on the process of running government. The Coffee Party wants elected officials to act on The People's will and fulfill promises made during campaigns. The Coffee Party wants to hold politicians and media accountable.

Americans can now have hope that change will happen if they get involved with the Coffee Party movement. The Coffee Party USA has the potential to lead a movement that will bring change to Washington. This movement can be change in action.

The Coffee Party movement will inevitably go through growing pains. This new movement is unprecedented in the history of Western democracy. That being said, I still have hope that the Coffee Party movement will succeed. We all want to change - politicians and The People. Let's make it happen!

Find a Coffee Party meeting in your area. You probably already go by your local coffee shop at least once a week. You might as well talk government with your friends in a civil manner while you're at the coffee shop. Feel free to drink tea at the meeting if you’re not a coffee drinker.

The Coffee Party is looking for volunteers to run Coffee Party meetings near your home if you'd like to volunteer. You don't have to organize very many people; ten would be enough. You and your friends should get involved with the movement. Make change happen!

Thanks for the insightful post "The Coffee Party Movement Needs You" =)

I'm one of many Americans who are in agreement that DC politicians are disconnected from the rest of the country.
And our needs are not being met.

God Bless the USA!
